为丰富学生学习生活，提高口语练习，本院于11月15日下午4点在南233教室开展了英语沙龙活动，围绕Changes for a Better Life的主题进行了一系列探讨。

在张雷刚老师的引导下，同学们就大学生上课使用手机这一现象进行了激烈的讨论。他还和大家一起观看了TED演讲《看手机太久:可能是你不开心的原因》，使得同学们对于上课使用手机这一现象认识更加深刻。最后张雷刚送给大家一句话：Never use phones on someoccasions. It is far away. We're really bad at resisting temptation. 这对大家起到了警醒的作用。

程雨薇老师就Shopping这一话题与同学们深入交流。对于刚刚过去的双11购物狂欢节和美国的Black Friday进行了对比，同学们就自己的消费观和消费情况与他人进行了交流探讨，并就花呗，借呗等借记方式的利弊展开了交流，同学们各抒己见，碰撞出别样的火花。

本次活动成功举办，同学们不仅提高了自己的口语能力，更提高了同学们对于热点问题的思辨能力。相信这将有助于同学们以后对时事热点的关注，并将它们与英语结合起来，更好地提升自己的英语水平。

To enrich students' study life and improvetheir oral English, today, we held an English Salon. Students participated in thisactivity discussed the theme "Changes for a Better Life".

   Underthe guidance of teacher Zhang Leigang, we had a heated discussion on the phenomenonof college student using mobile phones in classes. We also watched the TED talk"Looking at your phone for too long: why you might be unhappy". Thetalk inspired us too have a deeper thinking and advocated us do not play phoneshere and there, especially in classes.

Teacher Cheng Yuwei then had an in–depthexchange with students about Shopping. Comparing with The Double11 ShoppingCarnival and Black Friday, student shared their own consumption attitudes withothers.

In the English salon, students not onlyimproved their oral English, but also enhanced their logical and criticalthinking mind about hot issues.
